The MagicSchool Chrome extension is retiring. What now?
MagicSchool's Chrome Web Store listing said the extension would retire on 30 October 2026. If you used it to turn a page or document into a quiz or worksheet, here are your options, including where TwoTick does and doesn't fit.
Last checked 29 October 2026.
Your options
- Keep using MagicSchool on its website. The main web app is separate from the extension.
- Use a different browser extension. Brisk Teaching, for example, offers a free Chrome extension that works inside Google Docs and other pages.
- Use the AI tools already in your school's platform, such as Gemini in Google Classroom or Copilot in Microsoft 365, if your school has turned them on.
- Use a class workspace like TwoTick if what you mostly made was printed quizzes, tests and worksheets from your own material.
Where TwoTick fits
TwoTick is not an extension and doesn't work inside other pages. You upload or paste your material (slides, PDFs, Word documents, links), and it makes quizzes, worksheets, exit tickets, guided notes, differentiated readings and rubrics for a class it remembers.
What's different: every answer key is re-solved by a second AI before you see it, you get A/B test versions with separate keys, and exports are print-ready PDF and Word.
Where it doesn't
- No in-page sidebar: you work in the TwoTick app, not on top of other websites.
- No student chatbot or student accounts.
- Fewer tools than an all-in-one catalogue: it focuses on assessments and printed classroom material.
Questions
Is MagicSchool shutting down?
No. The listing we saw refers to the Chrome extension only. Check MagicSchool's own announcements for the latest.
Can I bring my old resources?
Paste or upload them into TwoTick as material, and it can turn them into new quizzes, versions or levelled readings.
Try it on tomorrow's lesson.
